Hi, I’m Amber — I’m so glad you’re here. I am a counsellor dedicated to helping children and their families navigate life’s unique challenges and discover meaningful growth and healing. I take a person-centred, holistic approach to therapy, ensuring each client feels heard, empowered, and supported as they move toward their goals.
My practice when working with children, youth and their families uses attachment-based play and expressive art activities. Research has shown playful, nurturing interactions can create long-lasting impacts on a persons emotion and behaviour throughout the lifespan. Expressive arts modalities are often less intrusive than traditional talk therapies and allow individuals to communicate in ways that feel natural to them. Through this creative process, I guide clients in building insight, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
I am certified in Theraplay® principles (Level 1), an evidence-based modality grounded in attachment theory. Theraplay uses playful, interactive, and emotionally attuned experiences to nurture secure connections between parents and their children—supporting emotional growth, behavioural regulation, confidence, and trust. I am also certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and incorporate this approach with attachment-based exercises to encourage emotional expression, reframe unhelpful stories, and develop healthy coping skills.
With more than five years of experience, with Alberta Health Services in the Opioid Dependency Program and as a Children's Mental Health Therapist I have supported children, adolescents, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, behavioural concerns, substance use, and trauma.
I believe the counselling relationship is foundational for meaningful change to occur, and I am dedicated to creating a space where clients feel valued, understood, and supported in their healing journey.
